el ancloteEl Anclote is a public beach located at the north end of Banderas bay, and can be accessed at Punta Mita.

The beach has fine white sand, and the water is clear with rocks below. One of the activities that El Anclote is most known for is surfing, especially beginners surfing, because it has five points at which the waves break. Besides being a great place to surf, there are other activities like kayaking, paddle surfing, snorkeling, parasailing, and boat rides.

El Anclote is primarily a fishing village, which gives you the opportunity to go fishing by renting these services from any of the providers in the area.

One of the things we like best about El Anclote is its proximity to the Marietas Islands. OnIslas marietas the beach you can hire a boat to go around the islands, admiring the many birds that habitat there and once there you can go diving or snorkeling. It really is a great experience.

Something special about El Anclote is that it is at the tip from where whales enter the Bay, and whales can be seen from here throughout whale-watching season. There are special trips for whale watching during the winter months.

To get there, head north from Villa Varadero (Nuevo Vallarta), take the Federal Highway 200. After a while you will see an exit for Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta Mita, take that exit and at the end of this road is El El AncloteAnclote. It’s about a 40 minute drive from Villa Varadero.

Also, El Anclote has good restaurants to eat and drink at, as part of enjoying a wonderful day!
